Thanks so much to all of you that helped me with the question of how to
enter data into the Follett system to access videos by
subject/curriculum along with only a title list. Most people suggested
that videos are entered just as books in the 650 tag or as a video in
the 245 tag. Many suggested entering a local subject heading in the 690
tag. It was also suggested that Alliance Plus is a great source to use
with Follett. One of the most helpful to me, it answered exactly what I
was searching for, was the following from an almost all video library:
"To let staff know that a particular video was purchased in support of a
particular curriculum area, add a 590 field to your MARC record. For
instance a video called "All About Volcanoes" has a call no. of
VC551.21. Enter in the 590 tag-- 590 Curriculum Area: Science 590
Grade Level: _____ Both of the 590 tags are local information that we
can put any information about the item in and we can have multiple 590
tags." (Thanks Chris)

I have also learned that Follett is putting in a new tag in the 500's
(maybe 596?) for curricum area.
