GEN: Publishing Personalized Books

Hi all,
I have a personal request that I could use your help with...

My mother is turning 60 this spring, and my siblings and I would like to
write, illustrate and bind a picture-type book for her.  I searched on
the Internet using "personalized book" as my search terms, and I've
found mostly personalized picture books for kids...which is not what we
are looking for.

I know my colleagues in library land can point me in the right
direction.  Should I simply call a local book binder or printer?  I just
don't know what to do to begin the process or who to call.
