I have an 8th grade student who has a 6th grade reading level. = She needs to read an 19th century book. I suggested a Christmas Carol = by Charles Dickens. Her teacher says this is unacceptable, he says this = is a long "short story" and not a novel. Is he right? Can I make an = argument for the student to read this book?
