Hi,

The story she is looking for is titled "All Summer in a Day" a science
fiction short story by Ray Bradbury.  It can be found in a collected work
called Science Fiction Stories chosen by Edward Blishen and published by
Kingfisher (1988)  in paperback ISBN 1-85697-889-3.  It's one of my
favorites!
