The following is Part One of my collection of Medieval Web Sites for
ninth grade world history classes. Ultimately, I want to make them into
a Web Page. When I do, I will be happy to share it. Thanks to all who
contributed.

Linda Paul gave me a great list as an attachment of Medieval sites that
she was also using with the ninth grade. She said she can be contacted
for it at: toteach@kscable.com .

Go to http://www.backflip.com/members . In the alphabet section click
on the letter "W" and click on WestJeffBucs. Then click on folder
labeled "Middle Ages". There are 36 links in the folder. The page is
accessible from any computer, the file is public at this time.

Check here and wait for the music to load.

Here are my bookmarks of Middle Ages and Castle Resources for my

I have a site with Medieval sites at
http://fer.scdsb.on.ca/simcoe/grade_41.htm#Heraldry
These sites are chosen to match our grade 4 curriculum but there might
be some useful site for your grade 9 classes.

Here's some from an article I recently wrote on Arthurian sites:

Llys Arthur
<http://www.webexcel.ndirect.co.uk/gwarnant/arthur/arthur.htm> traces
the historical evidence regarding King Arthur. Citing early Welsh
documents, Jeff Davies (webmaster, Arthur-phile, and amateur historian)
reconstructs the historical background of the times. This
well-organized site provides primary sources, chronologies, historical
and literary references, comments by noted historians, and related
articles.

Bulfinch's Mythology: The Age of Chivalry
<http://www.bulfinch.org/tales/welcome.html> provides full text of the
1858 print edition. Prefaces, introductions, and biographical
information on Thomas Bulfinch, as well as the other two sections =96 The=

Age of Fable and Legends of Charlemagne, are all faithfully reproduced.
Navigation is fast and easy, with no pop up windows or advertising ads.
Wood-cut images, interspersed throughout each chapter, do not hinder the

quick-loading pages. Earlier chapters contain numerous hot links on
various terms, ideas, and sources. Later chapters appear to have fewer
links, and unfortunately, the final nine chapters are not yet complete.

The Camelot Project <http://www.lib.rochester.edu/camelot/cphome.stm> at
the University of Rochester (NY) provides Arthurian texts, images,
bibliographies, and basic information. Unique to this site is a listing
of recent Arthurian literature and interviews with Arthurian authors.
Last updated in September, 2000, this searchable site remains
permanently "under construction" as
additional materials are constantly appearing.

The Labyrinth: Resources for Medieval Studies
<http://labyrinth.georgetown.edu/> sponsored by Georgetown University
provides content-related links on other servers: databases, services,
discussion groups, primary sources bibliographies, and images. This
site is updated monthly.

Another database is Odin's Castle
<http://www.odinscastle.org/odin6.html>. Paul Gwynn, an educator and
history buff, maintains this award-winning site. The King's Chambers
(Arthurian lore) is one small part of the large webpage. The main page
(use the "home" link at the bottom of the page) covers Greek, Roman,
Egyptian, Norse, and other mythology; American legends; tales of the
crusades, and more.
