This is a personal request. My son, a graduate student in math, has become an avid reader over the last few years. His favorite author has been James Patterson, especially his books featuring psychologist Alex Cross. Recently, however, my son mentioned that he thinks he's outgrowing Patterson - plots too predictable, vocabulary too plebian, etc. He's asked me for some recommendations of authors to move on to and I'm at a loss because my own personal reading taste is so different from his. Any suggestions?? Marie A.
