Dear all, I hope you realise that New Zealand and the East Coast of Australia are now seeing the 12th arrive. I'm interested in knowing a little more of the education systems in other countries. Since the Northern Hemisphere is banned :) for the moment on this list, I'd like to know from other UNLURKERS whether their education systems have national curriculums, state ones or whether the teacher can teach what they like. What proportion of private and state schools are there in your countries? Are there different types of schools, like "progressive" ones? Are the teachers well unionised? What is the student/teacher ratio? How are teacher librarians regarded? Thanks in anticipation.
