Gantos, Jack._Joey Pigza loses control_Farrar Straus & Giroux, 2000 [0-374-39989-1] In this second Joey Pigza book, he goes to spend time with his father (who we don't see in the first book.) As you may know these tales are told by Joey, a ADDH kid -- great reading about him trying to control himself though his own mind. Here we have a alcoholic father who is also trying to stop smoking and coaches a baseball time. Joey has been doing pretty well since he has his medication patch. Well his father convinces Joey that he can control himself without the patch. And as a result, Joey loses control. What is really interesting, we hear it all from Joey as he experiences it. This 196 page book is almost as good as the first -- well worth purchasing. *************** Frederick Muller Halsted Middle School Library 59 Halsted Street Newton, NJ 07860 voice (973) 383-7440 ext 228 FAX (973) 383-7432 My book reviews are compiled at: http://www.halsted.org/br.htm My personal web site is: http://users.tellurian.net/fmuller =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
