Hello, I wanted to let you know about something I did in conjunction with a class reading Animal Farm. I started off looking for posters that promoted the Russian Revolution to share with the class. I found websites that had Chinese, Cuban and Eastern European posters as well. I then added American posters and Nazi posters from World War II. I incorporated a number of these into a powerpoint presentation with some questions for the students to answer to help them focus on ways to judge these particular works. It worked out well as a way of teaching one aspect of media literacy. I wanted to pass on these websites to you: Revolutionary Posters http://www.iisg.nl/exhibitions/chairman/ Eastern European Posters http://www.crosswinds.net/~russ_posters/ Posters from Revolutionary Russia http://www.fbuch.com/posters.htm Polish Posters http://www.autry-museum.org/calendar/oct/ppimg.html Nazi Posters http://www.uncp.edu/home/rwb/hst430_w.htm Posters from the WPA http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/wpaposters/about.html Posters from World War II http://www.nara.gov/exhall/powers/powers.html Ed Nizalowski, SMS Newark Valley High School Newark Valley, NY enizalowski@nvcs.stier.org =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
