Athena Inventory Prob.

I am through doing inventory on my collection.  According to Athena I
have 5,582 books in my collection.  (I know - small library)  After
completing the entire inventory, Athena says I have 4,943 books logged
in.  Now here's the problem; I know the difference between the two
numbers is 639, but when I print out the list of missing books, it says
I only have 246 books listed as missing.  Does anyone have any idea what
the problem might be??  When you withdraw a book, does Athena still
consider it part of the collection because I did weed a lot of books
this year.
