We are open to negotiate. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- TITLE: LIBRARY MEDIA TEACHER BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Director of Libraries, equips students and staff with a variety of resources and strategies to access, evaluate, and use information; designs resource-based learning experiences and units of study to ensure the integration of technology and information literacy skills within the curriculum; works in a cooperative partnership with the instructional staff at school sites. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Provides district leadership in the use of information skills, technology, literature, and libraries as a focal point for academic instruction. Provides staff development for individuals and groups regarding resource-based learning units, emerging technology, library development, and planning purposes. Models instructional strategies and coach staff members in the integration of technology with the curriculum. Promotes literacy and the enjoyment of reading, viewing, and listening. Fosters the development of information finding, analyzing, and problem-solving to support investigations. Collaborates with teachers to develop lessons that align with standards including the preparation of units, presentation, and evaluation of student work. Trains classified staff, volunteers, parents, and teachers working in school libraries to use the Follett software system and basic library procedures. Promotes a positive attitude and perception toward the use of technology as a learning tool. Creates and implements procedures to promote access to library media material and equipment. Serves on textbook selection and evaluation committees, subject matter committees, and technology committee. Leads the district library committee, including planning and preparation of monthly meetings. Provides information to the district library committee, library personnel, and school administrators, regarding writing library plans and grants. Keeps informed of the latest trends, developments in library media programs, and services by attending state conferences and workshops. Coordinates media previewing for Superior California Learning Resources Consortium. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: State Standards, district curriculum, district assessments Library technical processes related to the acquisition, cataloging, classification and circulation of library materials Materials used and appropriate to grades levels, preschool to high school Use of the computer and access to Internet Computer and library research methods A variety of databases Oral and written communication skills California Department of Education Library Resources Collection development including weeding ABILITY TO: Teach teachers and students about library and computer use Develop lessons and units in collaboration with teachers Model lessons for teachers Coach teachers implementing research-based lessons Establish and maintain a schedule to visit and assist library staff at 12 sites Maintain a schedule of meetings and agendas Work with community partners on projects with shared programs Summarize library development in an end of the year report Assist schools in library budget development EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Valid California Teaching Credential Successful experience as a classroom teacher Valid Library Media Teacher Credential Posses a valid California Driver's License WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT: Library and classroom environments PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Seeing to observe instructional equipment and materials; hearing and speaking to communicate with others; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other equipment; bending, climbing ladders, walking, pushing, and pulling hand carts; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; lifting and carrying objects. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-= All postings to LM_NET are protected under copyright law.
