GEN: Tiger Woods Cards reflections

At risk of a flame;

While I don't begrudge any library able to gain some much needed funds I =
am
somewhat troubled by the Tiger Woods Card thing.

First of all, if a flood of people now all put the card up for sale, I
don't believe they will all get big bucks. It was the scarcity of the ite=
m
that made it valuable. Second, why not let your students continue to enjo=
y
having the card as part of your library collection? It might make a nice
display, illustrating theVALUE of a good library collection? Show off som=
e
other "treasures" as well.

We have a teacher who as a hobby collects first edition books. Her husban=
d
frequently lets me know of some treasures I have "If only it didn't have
the library stamp in it".  BUT, I am not going to quit stamping my books =
in
case one of them becomes valuable.

I hope that people don't start putting the cards from SI for kids away fr=
om
use in hopes they might become valuable some day. =


While I am now in a high school, I used to be in an elementary and had th=
e
SI for kids cards. =
