Mary Alice Anderson made me think of something I do in my library. I also
supply the students with a note-taking papers (each are 1/2 of a sheet of
paper). However this note-taking paper has the the MLA format for citing a
source on it, lines on which the students write down the needed info to cite
the source that they are using, and then blank space for them to use to take
notes. I have one made up for books, another made up for web sites and
another made up for encyclopedias, etc. I tell the students that when they
are ready to create their bibliographies, they just put their papers in
alphabetical order and type up the info!
