Proper form in patron catalog

I'm presently doing my school media internship, and the media specialist
asked me if it is proper form to uses ALA format for titles in the patron
catalog: i.e. - Only capitalize the first word of the title and subtitle.
Can anyone tell me, and also the source of your info?  Thanks.
