I don't know if anyone has brought this up, but it explains a lot to me. A librarian friend of mine who is also a teacher of reading to adults, informed me that 80% of all people will learn to read no matter how they are taught, or even if they are really "taught" at all. It is the other 20% for whom the method makes a difference.
