There are = several good ideas and food for thought. ...Quite a few of our classes are doing curriculum related = research...say on Holocaust and then use the Internet for information = and pictures to incorporate into a PowerPoint presentation. ...Our marketing class does a wonderful project on fashion designers = that ends up mostly web based. We have some print that she uses but then the = students go on line to the designers home pages. ...The foreign language classes use the Internet in addition to print = for travel and cultural research on different cities and then students need = to make travel brochures, posters or reports. ...Our PE classes use our web-based magazine index to find articles on = Nutrition. Students have to find three articles on a topic such as = "nutrition and vitamins" and then they have to write a paper summarizing = the three opinions and listing their own perception. ...It seems like the business department has some of the best units. I = think it is because they deal with such current issues. =20 ...I've always found collaborative projects to be the most exciting type = of Internet application. I'm biased, of course, but I'd direct you to = the OnlineClass collaborative projects at least to see what activities = other schools are doing. You can take a tour of the school work. = http://www.onlineclass.com ...I enjoy looking for info about the authors I highlight in my lessons = and=20 book talks. There is some amazing free stuff out there! It seems I am not alone with my boredom of the Internet... ...I thought I was the only one bored with it. I sure am not a = surfer--I go to it only when I really need to find an answer that I can't find elsewhere. ...I have ennui so much I made a web page about it. www.dmcom.net/dkissane ...Actually, I am really tired of all the hoopla...I wish we could just = read and kids could learn to write sentences correctly. Great suggestions for Internet Ennui from my learned colleagues! Yours, Lisa Lisa Denton, Library media specialist, KidsConnect Volunteer JS Russell Junior High School lisa.denton@brun.k12.va.us http://www.geocities.com/lisajunedenton ------=_NextPart_000_0039_01C0643A.CCCDE420 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D"MSHTML 5.00.2614.3500" name=3DGENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Dear LM_NET,</FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3DArial size=3D2>Here are the results to cares and cures = for=20 Internet Ennui.
