This is Part 3/9 of the list of suggested picture books for my high
school library. Thanks to all who contributed.
Strictly personal, highly subjective choice of picture books:
    Jerry Pinkney illustrations
    "Willy" books by Anthony Browne
    Officer Buckle & Gloria
    David Shannon books
Strega Nona books by Tomie DePaola
    David Weisner books
True story of the 3 little pigs by A. Wolf
Polar Express, Jumanji, and perhaps a few others Chris Van Allsburg
Make Way for ducklings by Mccloskey
some 'traditional" folk and fairy tales - Trina Schart Hyman or Jan
Brett or Paul Zelinsky

Patricia Polacco for those students that are writing their own books and
Tomie DePaola. They both write about their life experiences and
families. They are truly wonderful stories, many are very touching.
Denise Fleming for your very young preschool children and Eric Carle's
books. Off We Go is a darling new book for the preschool children. The
Napping House is a must have and Olivia is very cute.

My vote would be for "Good Night Moon" & "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie"

I love the book Scrambled States of America by Laurie Keller. I think
high schoolers would find it as hilarious as I do! In this one, the
states are tired of being in the same old place, so they all trade
places and all sorts of funny things happen. Of course, they all decide
there's no place like home!

I would definately include a number of classics like Dr. Seuss's books
and Make Way for Ducklings. A new book I would buy is Bark, George. I
have used it with writing lessons with fourth graders talking about
endings... it could end when the vet solves the problem, when George's
mother expresses her appreciation, or after it shows how proud she is of
George barking. However, the author continues the book another page to
end it with a
surprise. The preschoolers will howl with laughter when someone reads
it to them. Mercer Mayer's books are fun for preschoolers and would work
for your high schoolers in expressing feelings, etc. I also love the
Little House picture books based on stories from Laura Ingalls Wilder
books. There are some wonderful books to choose from but these are some
that come to my mind first.
