In regards to......Oyate's list of books focuses on research and attitudes brought to the writing. http://www.oyate.org/books-to-avoid/index.html I am a North American Indian, born and raised on the Oneida Reservation, WI. I like and encourage some of the books on the list. Please remember, do not put all Indians in the same canoe. Just as you would not put all Europeans in the same boat. Each tribe has their own distinct language and cultural beliefs. Meaning: what one tribe might find offensive, another tribe might enourage. Iroquois philosophy: Two canoes are traveling the same river, together. People in either canoe are encouraged to take items from the other canoe, if they can use them in a good way. However, when we take something from the other canoe, we must use it in our own canoe. Just my opinion!!! Yawa'ko (Thank You) Brian A.
