TARGET: Need reading about buried treasure

Hi Group,

I need a reading (story, picture book, short essay, poem, song, etc.) that
has a theme of buried treasure, preferably within a person, community or
other group.  I'm not looking for pirate stories. I'm looking for something
that says buried under the surface; under the obvious, is a wonderful
secret, or buried treasure. One example of this is Cyndi Lauper's song "True
Colors":

I see your true colors shining through
I see your true colors and that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
Your true colors are beautiful
Like a rainbow.
