I have had a 4th grade teacher ask me to teach her students how to read flowcharts, especially those you might find in science or social studies. It seems this is an area on the ITBS that they want to target. Do you have any ideas for finding materials that would be useful for teaching this skill and/or ideas on how to tie it in to literature? I hate to teach something in isolation. They will be doing units on colonial times/pilgrims/Indians, and I was thinking perhaps I could have them create one in Inspiration or give them a template to have them create their own after doing a mini-lesson on them. I am new, and I appreciate any advice you may have! Thank you!
