Thank you to all of you who sent ideas. Ya'll are better than seeing a
shrink!!!! I feel better now. Went to my last class tonight so I am just
waiting on graduation day.
Some suggesions I received were:
Change the schedule. Can't do this. The princiapl approved the schedule
because the math teacher arranged for all of the teachers in each grade to
have a break at the same time for unit meetings. While one 2nd grade class is
in the Library, one is in P.E., in music and in computer lab so the teachers
can get together.
Just check out books; no lessons. Another "can't do". The principal woudn't
approve my lessons plans. He doesn't think puzzles, games, etc. are lessons.
Have teachers send books ahead of time so they are already checked in. I am
trying this. Some teachers just won't do it....they "forget". But when the
ones who do it regularly send their children to the library it is much better.
I have no choice about the laminator and copier. They are in the workroom,
but it is attached to the library and it is part of my job description.
As for parent volunteers...we can't even get them to come to scheduled
conferences or PTO meetings. I did have one parent who came three days a
week my first year, but she got a paying job and that was that. I have sent
letters home but have had no response.
But I don't want you to feel I am being negative about your suggestions
because they ARE great ideas and I now plan to have a talk with my principal
about the problems I am having.
Once again...THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE FOR ME! How lucky am I to be a part of
such a great profession and such a wonderful group of professionals.
