I agree with Chris Finer. You are the library professional. You are = the one that sees the overall needs and best interests of the whole = school - not just this particular teacher's class. Keep the emphasis on = how important it is to teach children search techniques that are = universal to libraries. Remind teachers that your mission is not just = to teach students how to locate information effectively in your school = library, but to be able to translate that skill to other libraries as = well. This is why libraries are organized according to certain standard = practices. I would hope that the teacher would be able to understand = that.
