Hello, I've been getting many responses about my previous posting reminding me that there are some students who need the silence...I totally agree. I may not have represented myself well when discussing the music in the library...it is not on a sound system, it comes out of a little radio in my office. I might also note that my office is next to the magazine section of the library. Students perusing magazines are ususally doing so for leisure reading. My library is large and it is possible to have the music on in my office and not hear it on the other side of the room. I find that students who need/like the noise sit at tables near my office or on the couches near the magazines...those students who don't want the noise go to the other side of the room...and as always, I am up circulating the room to help students with their needs. Maybe not a system for every library, but it has made a huge difference in the number of students coming in and out of the library for materials. ===== Billie Esser Library Media Specialist Jefferson West MS/HS 619 Condray Meriden, KS 66512 billie66512@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
