HIT: TECH: Do it yourself print cartridge refill

I only got a few replies to my question about do it your self print
cartridge refills:

Our tech person says the cheap quality ink gums up the printers.... We have
a teacher who used them and had to have the printer sent to a repair center.

After successfully refilling my ink jet cartidges at home, I have begun
doing it at school. I purchased my original kit from QVC (for personal
use). I since found a kit at Wal-Mart that has an injector/needle
configuration which I like much better. It is marked in ml and I know how
much I am putting in. Cartiridges must be filled before they stand around
empty for a while. Use latex gloves and make sure you protect surfaces and
clothing. Follow directions about how much to fill and about letting them
sit outside of the printer for the ink to absorb into the sponge. I have
also filled my color cartidges at home.

Our local news station does a "Does it work?" segment, and this product
was a mess to fill. Also, the print quality was very poor.
Sounds great, but it doesn't work.


It sounds like it can work if you are careful and follow directions without
rushing and if you don't mind getting a little dirty to save
money.  Probably more work than most are willing to do.
