Subject: ISLD Fairview PA USA

International School Library Day was marked with the planting of a tree on
the south side of Fairview High School. The school is located about 10
miles west of the city of Erie, PA, USA and is situated on Lake Erie. Our
school has approximately 520 students in Grades 9-12.

Invitation to the event were sent out in advance to high school teachers,
district administrators, district librarians, school board members, and the
local news media. Every other year, we have an exchange with a high school
in Cholet, France. Fortunately, students and teachers from France were here
for the festivities.

The Fairview High School Chorus and the Fairview High School Marching Band
took the time to learn the French national anthem and played and sang the
French and American national anthems at the ceremony. Over 100 students,
professional staff, guests, and community members attended the tree planting
ceremony ... in the rain!

Members of the Library Media Club were joined by students from France to
help fill in the hole with our beautiful new Douglas Fir. Please visit the
Fairview School District website, FSDiNET, at http://www.iu5.org/fsd and
click on our tree! (once the tree is no longer on the main page, click on
Libraries instead!)
