We have the identical problem. At the start of this year we had $10,000 in
texts not returned. We have a several pronged approach that we have put in
place this year:
1. we sent out 2 sets of letters home,
2. we are holding dance tickets for kids with overdues (this really works),
3. a reminder on the report cards,
4. sending invoices home,
5. holding yearbooks for kids with overdues at the end of the year.
Of course, all this is a huge expense in staff hours. One school district
not far from us just hands their list over to a collections agency at the
end of the year.
