I would like to hear from anyone who has some thoughts on the problems I =
am having with loss of materials. We have a student body of 1200 with an =
IMC collection of approx. 33,000 items. We just completed an inventory =
and have found that we have lost 161 itemsin the past year despite having =
a security system. We use the radio frequency Checkpoint system with the =
theft detection tags placed in or behind the pockets. (I wish we had the =
magnetic system). We know students have figured out where the detection =
tags are placed and we also know if they want something badly enough they =
will just tear out the pocket and remove the item. We have also heard =
from several teachers that students brag about how they are able to get =
materials out of the IMC. Of course our school allows students to carry =
backpacks wherever they go. I would like to know if other high schools =
have these same problems and if they allow backpacks in the room. Thanks, =
Sara
