Spread the word: Time is running out to apply for the Frances Henne/YALSA/VOYA Research= Grant! This grant of $500 =AD $1000 is to provide seed money for small scale=20 projects which will encourage research that responds to the YALSA Research= =20 Agenda, which was adopted by the YALSA Board in June 1995. The donor of the= =20 award is Voice of Youth Advocates/Scarecrow Press. Proposals are due December 1, 2001. Since this year December 1 is a=20 Saturday, applications must be RECEIVED complete at the YALSA office by=20 Monday, December 3. Further details are as follows: REQUIREMENTS 1. Applicants must be personal members of YALSA, including student=20 members, although the research project may be undertaken by an individual,= =20 an institution, or by a group. 2. The proposed research must be a response to the vision, mission,=20 goals, and Research Agenda of YALSA, all available from the office or from= =20 the website at www.ala.org/yalsa, and for the general area of library=20 service to young adults. 3. Applicants must submit eight (8) copies of the proposal. CRITERIA 4. A proposal of 1-2 pages, and one page of biographical information,= =20 should be submitted and must include the following: a. Title b. Objectives c. Problem Statement/Questions to be Answered d. Methodology, including how data will be collected and analyzed. e. Significance of the project, in light of previous research. f. Projected time line (Project should be completed within a 12 to 18 month= =20 period, and a report filed with YALSA within six months of completion of=20 the study.) g. Indicate the way that the money will be used. h. Brief biographical data on researcher on a separate sheet, with contact= =20 information including e-mail, as well as the researcher's ALA membership=20 number. A TOTAL OF EIGHT (8) COPIES OF THE PROPOSAL MUST BE SUBMITTED. Selection of the recipient will be made by the YALSA Research Committee and= =20 announced at the Midwinter Meeting. ALA/YALSA has the right of first consideration for publication of research= =20 results. Co-publication by VOYA is permitted, since VOYA is the donor of=20 the grant money.
