Good morning LM_NETters!

The September 2001 topic for Weed of the Month is: Conflict Management.

The nature and ramifications of ‘conflict’ in today's schools has changed
drastically in the past few years. You should carefully examine materials
published as recently as only five years ago. This won't be that
difficult of a job because you probably have very few older items on
this subject. But if you do, now is the time to replace them -- there
are many new and relevant titles in current publication. Another sign of
the times.

A brief explanation of Weed of the Month for new LM_NET members: the
SUNLINK Weed of the Month began in September, 1997, from an idea
by Mike Eisenberg co-owner of LM_NET, and as an effort to help provide
Florida's School Library Media Specialists with guidelines and
suggestions for weeding their collections a little at a time as well
as adding quality materials. A section of the collection is
identified each month during the school year (September through May)
as a weeding target.

For more information, including guidelines for weeding this area,
suggested titles to examine, and possible titles to consider for
purchase, go to http://www.sunlink.ucf.edu/weed/ .The current topic, as
well as the archives of previous Weed of the Month topics for the past
four years may be found at the same location by scrolling down the menu
bar on the left side of the screen.
