This is being posted on 2 lists so please forgive the multiples... My principal really wants to push Accelerated Reader this year and I have = 2 parents on a Reading Enhancement committee (PTA) who want to promote, = promote, promote. My problem is this: I do not have complete teacher = buy-in on this program. Some use it, some don't, some use it as part of = the language arts grade, some require that students check out "a 6.0 or = higher book only." In other words, we have never had a school-wide = consensus on how AR is going to be used (I'm only in my 2nd year here and = the history is too long to get into). My question is this: How have you gotten your teachers actively involved = in AR? If they are involved, what is the general level of involvement (do = THEY run reports, keep up with goals, etc or do they expect YOU to do = that)? Do you have any kind of incentives for teachers with the program or = are your incentives for students only? Thank you very much for your help with these questions. I'll be happy to = post a hit!
