Hi Missy,

One idea you can use for this grade level is to have an author's day. You
and the students may discuss the different genres-fiction, biography,
informational, and picture books. Students will write, illustrate, and
create their own original stories. On a specified day, these students will
read their book to the younger children.  They will also discuss their
writing process in writing the story.  Parents may also be invited to view
their children in the author's chair.
