I set up a "family" card to be used by both parents. So the patron would read The Hawkins family, etc., or The Jim Hawkins family if more than one student with the last name. This gives me a link back to at least one student in the family (so many of my students don't even have the same last names as their parents!) Because we are practically next door to the public library, I don't have but 1-2 requests to do this each year, so I really don't even set any particular rules. Since I set them up as a student account, rather than a staff account, they are on the same policy: only two books at any one time, checked out for one week, two renewals allowed. The parents for which I have done this are thrilled! They are usually parents who are very active on campus anyway, and it saves them trips to the public library!
