Hi everyone! Sorry I am so late in posting this hit. (MSHS is back in full swing!) I hope this helps some of you as much as it helped me! The #1 recommended site was Titlewave by Follett. http://www.flr.follett.com There is a publication called Science Books and Films. It is published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Check your public library (main branch and also audio-visual collection) to see if they have it (they might have it for the professional staff and would let you look at it) or the university library (same staff people). The web site is http://www.sbfonline.com/ You can check out the Best Lists, which are lists of titles which they reviewed in the previous year which had high ratings. They are listed by Dewey #. Hope this helps. Rena Deutsch, Librarian High School for the Humanities New York, NY renadeutsch@worldnet.att.net You are so in luck. I am also a MLS student at the University of Central Arkansas and I just did an exercise for Developing Info. Collections that was science based. I had to find materials that were science related. Below are sites that you can go to and find valuable info... some even free!! www.scholastic.com www.bn.com www.turtlebackbooks.com www.libraryvideo.com www.firstscience.com (freebie) www.bookadventure.com (this is a reading quiz database similiar to Accelerator Reader but free) www.infoplease.com (free science research database) Also search your local educational cooperative for materials available to schools. Also, go to your search engine and type in Media Basic Video. This will give you the site for the company. Also do the same for Children's Library Resources. I used each of these as was able to find much useable information and books/videos. Hope this helps! Good luck!! Verna Shrable, LMS, Buffalo Island Central Schools, Leachville, AR Good luck!
