I was wondering when I should announce the birth of this new book--and it
would seem that today is the day!
My first picture book, THE SEA CHEST, illustrated by Mary GrandPre of Harry
Potter fame (Dial 2002, ISBN: 0803727038) arrived in the world on August 1.
Set on a fictional midcoast Maine island, THE SEA CHEST is a story of
lighthouses and loneliness, adoption and family love. It is based on the
Maine legend of the baby in the sea chest and is richly illustrated by Mary
GrandPre in oils.
My next picture book, DAWDLE DUCKLING, illustrated by Margaret Spengler,
will be out in January 2003, also from Dial.
