Hi, Apparently, throwing books away is not only a librarian's problem. A friend of mine who is taking over the administration of a small alternative school has been busily cleaning out closets at her new location in preparation for the new year. She came across piles of old, outdated books and tried to throw them away. The custodian questioned the legality of throwing away Board of Ed property. She simply told him that since the books had had mouse terds on them it would be a health hazard to put them in the hands of students and teachers. Maybe librarian's could use the same line.
