I am in a K-8 School and I read to all of my students but I don't read novels to them or if I do, I read the first chapter to them and then check out the book to the classroom teacher. The kids will then bug them to finish the book. I read picture books to them. There are many book lists and articles written on using picture books with older kids. One of the best authors for it is Van Allsburg. His books are perfect and strange. That helps. Maybe people can write in and tell what picture book authors they use for their older students.
