NYS library media specialists: NOVEL user survey

The NOVEL Steering group has a user survey that is posted from the State
Library web page <http://www/nysl.nysed.gov> (link on the left side) that
has an October 1 cut-off date.  It is IMPORTANT that as many school library
media specialists reply to this survey as possible. This is an opportunity
to have input into possible purchase of statewide databases and/or statewide
contracts for group purchases at substantial discounts. (OK, we also have to
lobby for increased funding for libraries in the state budget. Write Pataki
NOW.)

It's an opportunity to get the K-12 databases that will help our students
most. If you want Electric Library, Big Chalk, SIRS Researcher and
Discoverer, etc. included, the votes have to be there, even if it is a crazy
time for us as we start the school year.

and affiliate listservs and/or include it in mailings, meetings and
presentations at the building, district and school library system levels.
Better to hear it five times than not at all since the time is so short.

Christie Frost-Wendlowsky, John Monahan and I are the school representatives
on the NOVEL Steering Committee. The results from this survey are supposed
to be ready for the next meeting on October 11th, so the time factor is
short. Any help in getting this message out will be GREATLY appreciated
since the beginning of the year is SO busy.
