Until you break the wrapping on the book you can return it if you don't =
like the license. Of course, if vendors do processing they are going to =
break that seal and you are bound by the contract. But just as when you =
receive a book that wasn't exactly what you thought it was, you are stuck =
with a processed book.

Do you suppose that the inclusion of this license "not to loan" will be
evident as we purchase the book, sight unseen, from our vendor?  I would
hope that the vendors would alert us!
