How about checking the National Science Teacher's Association's list of Outstanding Science Trade Books for Children? Their website of lists of books (for libraries) is at: http://www.nsta.org/ostbc Also, check the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Math and Science at: http://www.enc.org/ This link has tons of great ideas, resources, and lists--websites, books, etc. In addition, if there is an ENC Partner near your school, (consortium libraries can be found at: http://www.enc.org/partners/access/ ) you can borrow the kits from these libraries (the kits that I have seen were wonderful to use with a classroom because they provide multiple things---especially for science classes....but since this is an extension into a reading class, you might not want to adventure that far.) If you do a search on ENC at: http://www.enc.org/resources/search/ you can put in a topic (Jane Goodall) and it will give you information (weblinks, etc.) on how to expand the topic into a great lesson. ~Shonda Brisco Trinity Valley MS / US Librarian Fort Worth, TX sbrisco021@charter.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kimberly A.
