Placement of barcodes on the front cover is probably the most efficient =
when it comes to doing inventory, at least for right handed people, =
because you can tip the book down with your left hand and scan with the =
right. Putting them inside the cover will preserve the barcode better =
but you have to take every book off of the shelf, open it, scan the =
barcode, close it and put it back on the shelf when doing inventory. =
Using barcode protectors as has been pointed out will preserve the =
barcodes indefinitely.
