I agree.  I did summer library several years ago for an elementary school.  The
principal wanted everyone to take pride in who they are, and he wanted a
similar assignment.  We had Anglos, Hispanics from both Mexico and other
countries, Pakistani, African American, African, you name it!  It was VERY
difficult to find some names, and I had done several weeks of preliminary
research, pulling together websites and books from the public libraries.
Still, out of about 100 students, there were many we could not locate.

There assigment was revised somewhat to talk to their parents, grandparents,
etc. and learn why their name was chosen, etc.  Then each student incorporated
the letters of their name into some sort of visual presentation ( for instance,
each letter standing for one of their traits, etc.)  It worked out ok, but the
students who could NOT locate their name in ANY of the sources were very
disappointed.
