I am investigating book selection policies and how they can help the library, especially in times of a challenge. My school's policy is rather minimal and seems to be a basic "boiler plate" version. I've read ALA suggestions, read various policies I've found posted on the net, and looked at some recent research sources, but from you I'd like to know what is in your selection policy that you feel is absolutely essential and helpful...or what you see as stumbling blocks to a clear and effective written policy. I very much appreciate your wisdom and insight. Thanks for your help.
