One of the 9th grade teachers who teaches Global Studies has a very good
website
with lots of links on this topic. Some of the sites may be appropriate to 5th
grade students. His url is www.mrlew.net Good Luck

This web site from Southeast Missouri State University is what I have
linked on my school web page for beginning to search for country info.

I am gradually adding country sites to my library's web page this year as
our world cultures teachers request them. I have sites for countries in
Africa (added these yesterday), Asia and Europe, plus a couple of "world"
links. I get most of my sites from GOOGLE searches, the Librarian's Index
to the Internet (www.lii.org), and LM_Net posts. Here is the link to my
social studies web page. Select "World Cultures" and scroll down to see all
the links.
