I need to clarify my original post in which I said teachers pay for
missing items.
I still make them pay, so far no one has protested, but only if it is
missing for 3 years.
It is amazing how often they eventually surface.  In the 5+ years on
this campus, 1 staff person has paid for a book left on airplane and 1
staff person paid for a book that her dog chewed up.  All other
materials eventually were found.  Some teachers worry if it is missing
and I tell them not to worry as I am sure it will appear, that if it
doesn't appear in 3 years then we will worry.  I think that most often
the book is accidentally packed with things for the unit of study when
it is completed.
