That was suggested ONCE here, and didn't get beyond the "what do you
think?" stage. Coffee isn't a healthy beverage for anyone to be
drinking, let alone teenagers. The odor isn't pleasant to everyone. Who
pays for it, brews it, cleans up after the kids, etc. What if they want
tea, cocoa, other beverages, even healthy ones like milk. Then in come
the popcorn, fries, donuts, sunflower seeds...Most of us try to keep
food/drinks OUT of the Media Center. If they have time to be
coffee-klatsching, they're not busy enough with school work and you
might get some questions raised from parents. I think the whole endeavor
might open up a Pandora's box, at least at the public school level. A
lot of our public libraries have them, but that's a whole different
clientele. Maybe others are having great experiences with them, and I
hate to be a wet blanket, but I just cringe at the thought of all
potential pitfalls.

Subject: Coffee Bar in the library

LM Netters

I am interested in starting a coffee bar in the library. Are any of you
out
there doing something similar to this I'd like to know how you did it,
pros
and cons and if it's been successful.

My principal was very open to the idea, but I'd like to put a good
proposal
together before we work out the semantics.

Thanks,
