LM_Netters,
Our AP English teacher would like to commence a project matching
Seniors with 7th graders, similar to another program. The students would
be reading similar books, but at appropriate reading levels. Seniors
would be assigned a 7th grade reading buddy. Together they would compare
how the different books treat the basic components. (The seniors would be
required to also read the 7th grade level book.)

The goals of the program are:
1. For the seniors to read two levels of the same type of book and
compare components.
2. For the seniors to act as reading role models (mentors and
teachers) for the younger students.

Needed are books at the two levels which could be compared and
both be beneficial for the time spent. For example, the seniors currently
read The Odyssey. What comparable epics might be used at the 7th grade
level? The assignment might match several genre books.

Where might I find a pairing of such books? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance to this powerfully informed group.
