I agree. I could see why the group might be upset because it was put on a
Christian book list. The book does contain controversial ideas about God.
However, that is no reason to boycott Scholastic. Someone who made the list
may need to be fired for not knowing what was in the book when he/she put it
on the list, but there are certainly many students out there who would like
to have access to the book. If "Christian" schools don't want their students
to have access, then that is their choice, but we must support other's
freedom to read.

Subject: Re: Scholastic boycott

Scholastic put out a book club list targeted for
Christian Schools. One of the books on the list is
Teen answers from God. What upset the group that is
promoting the boycott is that the book did not adhere
to what they felt were Biblical truths. I suppose
they have a right to their concern, but voicing them
in a nicely written letter seems to be more
appropriate than going on the radio and calling for a
complete boycott. I consider myself a Christian and I
am embarrassed and tired of knee jerk reactions by
Christian fundamentalists that do nothing but make
people angry. Everyone has a right to their opinion
but I think they would be happy to have scholastic try
to accommodate Christian Schools and perhaps work with
them, instead of calling for a boycott. Just my two
cents.
