re: importance of ALA accredited degree LM_NET....so what states do require an ALA accredited degree for school librarianship positions? I know there are also several that require you to have taught so many years in the classroom before they qualify you for a librarians's postion also. I think that would be useful info for many LM_NETters. Just as knowing there are presently 14 states that will not let teachers collect Social Security if they have taught...and are in their States pensions systems.... those states are Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, Louisiana, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Massachusetts, Maine and Texas (source: LM_NET....and www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/living/columnists/dear_abby/2933574.htm March 26, 2002) Ann _____________R____E____A_____D_______________R_____E_____A_____D________________ Ann Cober Reed, Librarian/Media Specialist A 1999 Maryland Technology Academy Fellow Col.
