My first response is that anything about Anne Frank would be good. But you'd probably want to gear it down for the younger ones. To start with that process, there's one called: Anne Frank (First Book) by Rachel Epstein that is geared for children ages 9-12. Then there is one called Memories of Anne Frank: Reflections of A Childhood Friend by Alison Leslie Gold. (ages 9-12) There's also: A Picture Book of Anne Frank by David A. Adler. If Anne Frank is too obvious, (or "boring") you might want to try: No pretty pictures : a child of war by Anita Lobel. (ages 9-12) The Hidden Children by Howard Greenfeld (ages 9-12) Hiding to Survive: Stories of Jewish Children Rescued from the Holocaust by Maxine B. Rosenberg (ages 9-12) These were some that we had at the university's library for children (where I once the librarian). I had a professor there who did a unit over the Holocaust and we bought lots of books for this age level. I can still access their online catalog and look for the titles, so I have an advantage when I need to search for things. You might also try going online to Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com to see what comes up under different subject terms. You should probably try "Anne Frank" as a subject first because you can search for children's books about the Holocaust easier from that beginning than you probably could by going through the term "holocaust" (which would bring up the adult titles). Good luck! You've got lots of choices! ~Shonda Brisco Trinity Valley Upper School Librarian Ft.
