My co-librarian received a call last week from someone and when she told me about it, it seemed to me like a scam. The person on the phone said that it is illegal to show videos in schools. In order to continue doing so, we needed to pay them money in order to buy the rights to do this. I was under the impression that the videos we purchased through educational catalogs allowed for us to show videos to groups of students in a classroom for free. I know that teachers can not rent videos at Blockbuster and show to groups of students, but I thought the ones we got through Library Video Catalog, etc. were ok. Is this a scam?
